Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Finikas

The church was founded in 1963 and was completed in 1967. Until then, the residents attended service at the church of Agios Panteleimon in Votsis. The priest conducted the service in a room of the Ninth Primary School. The plot on which the church was built was granted by Pronoia, while the Prefecture of Thessaloniki offered 450,000 drachmas. As with many churches in Kalamaria, the residents worked for free and donated what they could to complete the church. The commander of the Dalipi camp even permitted soldiers and unit equipment to be at the disposal of the church.
